Yellow River Tanglang Quan Association – Governance

YRTQ is voluntary and benevolent association of Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu Enthusiasts. YRTQA does not represent any particular Praying Mantis Kung Fu master, style, or lineage.

Founder

  • Mark Van Schuyver is the Founder (Shizu) and owner of the Yellow River Tanglang Quan Association.  He founded the YRTQA on on January 5th 2016. The Founder holds a permanent position on the Board of Examiners.

Director

  • The Director of the Yellow River Tanglang Quan Association is appointed by the Founder for an indefinite term.  The Director is responsible for administration of the YRTQA including web site content.

President
  • The President of the Yellow River Tanglang Quan Association is appointed by the Director for an indefinite term.  The position is reviewed on an annual basis.  The President is responsible for general administration, public relations, and for YRTQA sanctioned events e.g. seminars, workshops, tournaments, trips to China, member summits, and more. The President reports to the Director and works closely with him/her in developing content for the website, forum, and for social media presence.  The President is also responsible for creating Tanglang related educational materials.

Vice President

  • The Vice President of the Yellow River Tanglang Quan Association is appointed by the Director for an indefinite term. The position is reviewed on an annual basis. The Vice President serves as an ambassador for the Association.  The Vice President reports to the President and works closely with him/her in managing administrative, logistical, and other responsibilities.

Members

  • benefit from the products and services provided by the Association. Membership is by invitation only. One-time $25 fee. There are no knowledge or skill requirements for membership.

YRTQA certified Black Belts

  • are Members who hold YRTQA Black Belt Chu Duan and higher ranking. Chu Duan (1st degree) level Black Belts may promote others up to, but not above, the rank of Black Belt Chu Duan.  Er Duan and higher rank can only be awarded by a quorum of the YRTQA Board of Examiners per the Duan Rank System guidelines and with the final approval of the Director. There is no charge for Duan ranking.

Board of Advisors

  • provide advice to the Association

Affiliated Schools

  • any YRTQA Black Belt may designate his or her school as a Yellow River Tanglang Quan Association Affiliate School. Affiliated Schools are affiliated with but not subordinate to the Association.

Board of Examiners

  • Examiners are elected from those holding the rank of YRTQA Black Belt Second Duan and higher plus the Director. Examiners are responsible for the certification of YRTQA Black Belts level Second Duan and above and for leadership duties within the Association.
